What is StateSync?

StateSync is a desktop client for coding agents that makes the same work cost less. Most of what an agent is sent is observation: the files it read, the commands it ran, the searches it returned. StateSync works out which part of that the next decision actually needs and leaves the rest out, so the same task finishes for less. Your agent, your account and your model do not change.

Which coding agents does it support?

Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor CLI, GitHub Copilot, Kilo Code and Pi. You keep your own subscription or API key for each one. StateSync runs them rather than replacing them, and you can switch from one to another mid-task inside the same project conversation.

Does it change the model or the provider I use?

No. The request goes to the same provider, on the same account, using the model you picked. StateSync only changes how much material rides along with it.

How much does it actually save?

In an internal preview run on Claude Sonnet 4.6 across 24 tasks with 3 runs each, tasks finished for about 41 percent less, and finished in fewer agent calls, with the same acceptance rate. A long implementation task that cost $6.81 to finish normally cost $4.02 through StateSync. Savings are largest on long and multi-session work. An independent published run is pending at tokenbench.app.

Does my source code leave my machine?

Only inside the request you were already sending to your own agent. StateSync does its work locally before anything is sent, and stores what it produces inside the project folder. There is no StateSync service in the request path.

What do I have to configure?

Nothing. Install it, open a project, and the session is ready in about two seconds. There are no per-agent config files to write and no settings you have to find. Advanced settings exist, but the defaults carry the benefit.

How is this different from a bigger context window?

Accepted Answer

A bigger window lets an agent carry more material at full price per call, and it still degrades as the window fills. StateSync reduces how much has to be carried at all, so a long session stays cheap and stays sharp.
